“Let’s be clear about what we are discussing. The SRC is proposing to add 14k to my salary. I didn’t ask for it. I don’t need it. It’s still money, in a country where many have no income, but for perspective, I pay close to 300k in income tax every month,” Sifuna stated.

The Nairobi Senator further added:

“I will not fight for 14k extra when the whole country is saying we need to lessen the taxpayer burden. I don’t want this 14k. Ikae.”

Under the new salary structure effective July 1, the salaries of the President and his deputy will remain unchanged, while the Prime Cabinet Secretary and other Cabinet Secretaries will see an increase from Sh957,000 to Sh990,000.
