Househelp Arrested for Murdering Kilifi County Chief Officer
A househelp has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Kilifi County Fisheries and Blue Economy Chief Officer Rahab Karisa.
The woman, who is from Bungoma, was arrested in Kakamega while attempting to flee to Uganda. She had told her friends that she was going to Uganda for a brief period.
The arrest was confirmed by Coast Director of Criminal Investigation Ali Bule.
“She was arrested in Kakamega and the team is on the way here with her,” he said.
Police investigators say the househelp stabbed Karisa after an argument over money. Karisa had just arrived from a week-long work tour of Italy when the argument ensued.
Investigators said that Karisa found Sh32,000 missing from the Sh100,000 she had been keeping in her house.
The househelp is being held at Kilifi Police Station and is expected to be arraigned in court soon.
This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with Karisa’s family and friends at this time.
We hope that the police will be able to bring the perpetrator to justice.
