Government Declares Tomorrow, April 10th A Public Holiday

Kenyans will enjoy a public holiday tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10th, to mark Idd-ul-Fitr. This Islamic holiday signifies the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.

Kindiki shared the message on X (Twitter)

”Declaration of a public holiday. It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Wednesday, the 10th April 2024 shall be a Public Holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr.”

The announcement was made by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday. Idd-ul-Fitr, also known as the “festival of breaking the fast,” is a joyous occasion for Muslims around the world.

Celebrations typically involve special prayers, gatherings with family and friends, and of course, feasting after a month of abstaining from food and drink during daylight hours.
