Funds are raised by content creator Babushka to build the Kasarani bridge
Kennedy Matiko Rioba, also known as Babushka, a prominent digital content creator, has announced the successful fundraising for the construction of a bridge in Garage, Kasarani, Nairobi County.
Using his Insta Stories, Babushka shared updates on the bridge’s progress, revealing its transformation from a hazardous crossing point adorned with car tires.
In a one-minute video, workers are depicted actively engaged in the construction process, with Babushka himself seen participating in the endeavor.
“Tupo site. Hopefully, we going to have a bridge here. Thank you all who have made it happen,” Babushka captioned the video candidly.
Just two days earlier, Babushka had taken to social media to solicit support for the bridge construction, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by both himself and local children who frequently traverse the area.
“This is the place I pass daily to go and play football in the field though risky! 😭🥲 How about children who pass here and go to school? Kenyans, kindly let’s unite and build here a bridge even if it’s made of timber!
Anyone willing to be part of @babushka.Foundation, support us through till no. 9091027, any amount will be highly appreciated, even 5 bob. God bless you all,” Babushka appealed.
His initiative follows closely on the heels of Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi, who had previously rallied people to donate towards the reconstruction of a dangerous bridge in a village in Kisii County. The campaign gained traction after a video surfaced showing a young girl, Shirleen Kemunto, bravely crossing it.
Eric Omondi’s call for support proved successful, and recently, the comedian shared a video on his Instagram page showcasing himself and the young girl walking over the newly upgraded bridge.
