Friday Declared a Public Holiday For The DP’s Inauguration

The government, via the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, has declared Friday, November 1, 2024, a public holiday for the swearing-in of Deputy President-designate Prof. Kithuri Kindiki.

Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, utilizing powers under the Public Holidays Act and the Assumption of Office of President Act, announced this holiday for the public’s information. The ceremony will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, starting at 10:00 AM.

This decision follows a recent High Court ruling in Nairobi that overturned an earlier order preventing Kindiki’s appointment after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.

Additionally, Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau confirmed the swearing-in date in an official gazette notice. Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has also listed the members of the committee tasked with organizing this significant event.
