Fight for DeMathew wealth finally at an end -1st wife takes it all!
Carolyn DeMathew, the second wife of the late Benga music sensation John DeMathew, has said that her first wife, Sarafina DeMathew, won a court case over the inheritance of his assets.
The two wives had shared the proceeds of DeMathew’s work until Caroline started her own YouTube channel. Sarafina then blocked Caroline’s access to the earnings.
Caroline tried to resolve the issue through arbitration and discussions with Sarafina, but they were unsuccessful. She then filed a case in the High Court, arguing that she should be a beneficiary of the inheritance.
The court case is still ongoing, but Caroline has said that Sarafina has won. She has also said that she was thrown out of the house she shared with DeMathew and that only one of his friends has been checking up on her.
Caroline wrote the following message:
“I swear Njogu was your friend. He has been checking up on me and your little Mathew, Simba. I wish you knew how your family treated me as well after your demise. They even threw me out of our house, where I gave birth to your son.”
Sarafina has not commented on the court case, but she has posted cryptic messages on social media saying that people will build you up thinking they are breaking you.
The case has highlighted the challenges faced by widows in Kenya, who are often excluded from inheriting their husband’s assets.
Caroline seems to have come to terms with the outcome saying,
“To my genuine friends, fans and DeMathew’s friends and fans, I am doing fine and better,”
