Farmer Undergoes Surgery to Remove 18-Inch Vegetable From His Backside

A 60-year-old farmer from Madhya Pradesh underwent a harrowing ordeal after doctors discovered an 18-inch-long vegetable lodged in his rectum. The bizarre incident occurred on Sunday when the man complained of severe stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital.

An X-ray revealed the shocking cause of the farmer’s discomfort: a bottle gourd, commonly known as lauki, had been inserted into his body and was causing significant internal damage. Surgeons at District Hospital Chhatarpur faced a challenging two-and-a-half-hour operation to remove the foreign object.

The procedure was complicated by the patient’s high blood sugar levels and a burst intestine. Dr. Nandkishore Jatav, who led the surgery, described the case as extraordinary. “The patient arrived at our hospital after being turned away from another facility,” Dr. Jatav said. “The vegetable was about one and a half feet long, and its removal was a complex procedure.”

Despite the complications, the surgery was successful, and the patient is now recovering in stable condition. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
