Ex-Presidential Candidate Abduba Dida Sentenced to 7 Years in U.S

Former presidential candidate Mohamed Abduba Dida is currently serving a 7-year prison term in the United States.

In November 2022, Dida was sentenced for stalking and intimidating an unidentified individual in McLean County, Illinois. He faced two charges: stalking and transmitting threats, and aggravated stalking with a violation of a restraining order.

Dida received a 2-year sentence for the stalking charge and a 7-year sentence for the aggravated stalking charge.

The ex-teacher and presidential candidate, who gained prominence in 2013 for his run against Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been held at the Big Muddy River Correctional Center since his sentencing. He is set to be released on April 3, 2029. It is not clear whether Dida had relocated to the U.S. or was visiting when he was arrested.
