Esther Musila Mourns the Loss of Her Godson in Heartfelt Tribute
Esther Musila has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late godson, Malakwen, whose sudden passing has left her heartbroken.
Taking to her social media, Musila poured out her grief:
“To a son I loved as my own, this loss cuts deep. It’s barely been a year since we laid your parents to rest 😢😢. Just two days ago, we spoke about your excitement to start university. You were so full of hope, ready to chase your dream of becoming a scientist… and now, you’re gone. You and Glenn K. Naibei were inseparable since Class 1. From the two of you, I learned what it truly means to stand by your brother—through everything.”
While she did not reveal the cause of Malakwen’s death, Musila hinted at the painful and perhaps preventable nature of his passing:
“You didn’t deserve to go like this. I’m angry. Some of us failed you. Rest in peace, my child, as you reunite with your parents—whom you selflessly cared for in their final moments. I believe they saw your pain and called you home. Sleep well, Malakwen. Rest easy 😢😢😢.”
A touching photo of Musila and Malakwen sharing lunch together surfaced alongside the tribute, capturing a happier moment now laced with sorrow.
A Series of Personal Losses
This tragedy adds to a series of painful losses Musila has endured over the years. In a previous conversation with her daughter, Gilda Naibei, Musila opened up about losing her husband just three months after her mother passed away.
“I never really had the chance to mourn my mother,” she shared. “I had three children, all at different life stages, and my husband was already unwell. I only had one sibling to lean on. I don’t even know how I got through that time—I completely forgot about myself.”
She described her mother as her rock—the person she always turned to in difficult moments.
“She was my everything. The one person I could always run to.”
Musila also recalled how her husband’s health took a sudden turn:
“He was admitted to hospital for something minor, or so we thought. But things escalated quickly. I asked him if we should inform Gilda about his condition, but he insisted we keep it to ourselves. I respected that. The next morning, he was gone. Looking back, there were signs the night before that something wasn’t right.”
The Day That Changed Everything
The memory of her mother’s death remains vivid:
“Seven years ago, this very morning, I got the call that shattered me—my beloved mother had passed in her sleep. Less than 12 hours earlier, my brother Fred and I had gone to the village to visit her. It was the worst day of our lives.
Driving to Machakos felt surreal, like we were in a dream. But I truly believe God allowed us to spend her final hours with her. That thought brings me comfort.”
Despite these heavy losses, Musila continues to honor the lives of those she’s loved and lost, carrying their memories with strength and grace.
