Latiff reflected on the show’s beginnings, which aired its first episode on August 20, 2019, at 6 a.m. Joined by co-hosts CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, the team embarked on an innovative venture: delivering four hours of uninterrupted talk during the morning commute.
Switching on the microphones that first morning brought both excitement and uncertainty.
“Would this work? Would the audience embrace four hours of non-stop talk during their busy morning commute?” Latiff recalled asking himself.
Their commitment and belief in the format paid off, turning The Situation Room into what is now celebrated as “Kenya’s Biggest Conversation.”
Latiff credited the show’s success to the collective efforts of his co-hosts and the production team, including producer Brian Evusa, Programmes Controller Brian Obara, and Radio General Manager Tom Japanni, along with the wider support from marketers, commercial teams, and technical staff.
On January 6, 2025, Latiff bid farewell to his audience, describing his time at Spice FM as a privilege.

As he looks toward the future, Latiff hinted at exploring new opportunities, leaving fans intrigued about what’s next.
“Is there room for something new? Of course, always, and I sure hope to be a part of it soon,” he remarked.
