Eric Latiff Joins Nation Media Group
Veteran journalist Eric Latiff has embarked on a new chapter in his 27-year media career by joining Nation Media Group (NMG), effective today.
Latiff’s appointment represents a strategic milestone for NMG as the company seeks to enhance and innovate its broadcast offerings.
Simaloi Dajom, NMG’s Head of Broadcasting, expressed her enthusiasm for Latiff’s addition, citing his exceptional track record in television, radio, and digital media.

Latiff’s transition to NMG follows his successful tenure at Spice FM, where he hosted The Situation Room for six years. Widely regarded as Kenya’s Biggest Conversation, the show became a staple of Kenyan morning radio under his leadership.
Reflecting on his time at Spice FM, Latiff recalled the program’s early days, when he and his co-hosts—CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne—launched the show on August 20, 2019.
“Switching on the microphones that morning was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. Would the format resonate? Would people embrace four hours of uninterrupted talk during their hectic morning commute?” he recounted.
The show’s success exceeded expectations, becoming a trailblazer in Kenyan media. Latiff credited the entire team, including producer Brian Evusa, Programmes Controller Brian Obara, and Radio General Manager Tom Japanni, for its remarkable achievements.

Latiff’s media career is marked by groundbreaking contributions, including the launch of Family FM and Family TV, Kameme FM, and K24—Kenya’s first 24-hour religious media house, vernacular radio station, and 24-hour news TV channel, respectively.
In his farewell message on January 6, 2025, Latiff reflected on his journey with The Situation Room and expressed pride in its accomplishments.
“It has been an incredible journey building The Situation Room into what it is today. The most significant part of the show has always been the audience,” he shared, extending heartfelt gratitude to his listeners.
