DJ Krowbar demystifies cost of his wife’s kidney dialysis
DJ Krowbar and his wife Joy Wanjiru have been going through a difficult time since she was diagnosed with kidney failure two years ago. In an interview with Radio Maisha’s Mwende Macharia, Krowbar shared how he was devastated when he learned of the news. He said, “She woke up on a Sunday not feeling well, and I told her to go to the doctor while I looked after the children. I was called later and told to rush to the hospital.”
Medics ran several tests and determined that Wanjiru had kidney failure caused by high blood pressure. They recommended immediate surgery, but Krowbar said that they were unable to afford it. As a result, Wanjiru has been undergoing dialysis, which is a costly and time-consuming treatment.
Krowbar said that the dialysis has been very difficult for his wife, both physically and emotionally. He said, “She is in a lot of pain, and she is always tired. It is also very expensive. We spend about Sh80,000 a month on her treatment.”
The couple is now appealing for financial help to cover the cost of Wanjiru’s kidney transplant. The surgery will cost Sh6 million, and they have already raised about Sh2 million. Krowbar said, “We are hoping that Kenyans will come together to help us save my wife’s life.”
