Diana Marua reveals she prefers to be Bahati’s baby mama, not his wife

In June 2023, popular Kenyan artist Bahati announced his upcoming wedding to his long-time partner, Diana Marua. The couple initially set their wedding date for December 12, 2023. However, the wedding did not occur as planned, and they later rescheduled it for October 2024, the month of their anniversary.

During a local media interview on September 8, Bahati revealed that the October wedding plans might not go ahead as expected, primarily because Diana Marua has been hesitant to settle on a specific date.

“We planned our wedding for October 20, our anniversary, but Diana keeps postponing it every day. It’s not up to me anymore,” Bahati explained.

He further mentioned that Diana is now considering a date in February, but he is reluctant to make any more announcements until she finalizes her decision.

“I think she’s suggesting a date in February, so I don’t want to discuss it until she makes it official because every time I announce it, I look like I’m chasing clout,” he added.

Bahati expressed his frustration with the constant changes, recalling a conversation they had:

“You wake up and decide on a December 12 wedding, but then Diana says, ‘Babe, people are busy at that time, and we will be traveling…’ I’m like, ‘But it’s your day; it’s about you.’ She complained on Netflix, so I suggested October 20, but now it’s up to her to decide,” he shared.

Diana Marua admitted that she isn’t ready for the wedding, which is why she keeps postponing it. When asked what she needs to feel prepared, Diana confessed that she wasn’t entirely sure but is working towards it.

“Weddings give me butterflies… We talked about it, and he asked, ‘Babe, why do you keep postponing?’ and I said, ‘I just want to be ready.’ He asked, ‘Ready for what?’ and I replied, ‘I don’t even know, but I just want to be ready.’ I think I’m not mentally prepared, but I’m working on it,” Diana explained.

She hinted that the wedding might happen next year but did not provide a specific date.

“Honestly, maybe sometime next year,” Diana stated.

In October 2023, Bahati made a significant step by paying dowry to Diana’s family, marking an important milestone in their seven-year relationship, even though the official wedding date remains uncertain.

Bahati and Diana Marua have built a blended family with five children: three children together, an adopted son, and Bahati’s daughter from a previous relationship with Yvette Obura.
