Couple’s House Burns Down Because of a Reflection From a Mirror

A couple from Rochester, Kent, narrowly escaped disaster when a bedroom mirror sparked a house fire. Sam and Michael were at home when their smoke alarms sounded, alerting them to the blaze that had engulfed their bedroom.

Firefighters arrived to find the room completely destroyed, with a melted TV and other charred belongings. Thankfully, their cat, Tigger, was rescued.

Investigations revealed that sunlight reflecting off the vanity mirror ignited the curtains, causing the fire. The couple is now urging others to be cautious of placing reflective objects near windows, as this seemingly harmless act can have devastating consequences.

“It’s a stark reminder that even the smallest things can lead to a major incident,” said Michael. “We were incredibly lucky to escape unharmed.”
