Chavakali Boys Students Feared Dead After Grisly Road Accident

A school bus carrying students from the Western school to Nairobi for the school holiday overturned on Monday night. One student died on the spot and several others were injured. The injured students were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and searching for the bus driver who fled the scene. The exact number of injured students is still being determined.

Allan Mwangi, who is Nyanza’s Regional Traffic Commander, gave more information on the ongoing investigations about the accident.

“My officers are at the scene while others are currently visiting different hospitals to ascertain the exact number of injured students. What we can confirm so far is that one student is dead,” he confirmed.

According to a report from Kondele Police Station, the driver of the bus was not found at the scene.

“It happened that the vehicle was negotiating the said Coptic round about on its way Kisumu general direction from Kakamega when the driver lost control hit a rail guard and the vehicle fell down at the edge of the road and rested on its left side,” the police report details on the accident.
