Catholic Priest In Murang’a Dies At Hotel Room While With His Girlfriend
Police in Murang’a County are investigating the death of a Catholic priest who was found dead in a hotel room on Saturday morning.
The priest, identified as 43-year-old Joseph Kariuki Wanjiru, was found with a woman who is believed to be his lover. The woman, who is 32 years old and works at the same church as the priest, told police that they had spent the night together in the hotel room.
According to the woman, the priest became ill in the morning and started experiencing dizziness. She said that they rushed him to Kenol Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The woman and several hotel staff members then went to the Samuru police station to report the death. Police said that they found the priest’s body partially wrapped in a blanket in the back of his car.
“The body was fresh but had foam coming out of the mouth,” said Gatanga sub-county police chief Lawrence Njeru. “We made inquiries and discovered that priests’ bodies cannot be preserved in a normal mortuary so we made arrangements to have it transported to Nairobi, accompanied by our officers.”
Njeru said that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the priest’s death.
The death of the priest has shocked the community, and many people are wondering what happened. Police are asking anyone with information about the case to come forward.
