Casa Vera fined Ksh1.8 million for using reveler’s image

Casa Vera Lounge, Roma School, and Mulla Pride Ltd have been fined for violating data privacy rights.

Casa Vera Lounge was fined Sh1.8m for posting a picture of a reveler on its social media platform without customer consent.

Roma School was fined Sh4.55m for posting a minor’s images without parental consent.

Mulla Pride Ltd was fined Sh2.975m for using names and contact information of complainants obtained from third parties to send threatening messages and phone calls.

The Office of Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) said that the penalties will serve as a warning to other organizations to always seek consent from individuals before processing their personal data.
