Beyoncé Surprises Fans with Grammy Win in Country Category

Beyoncé Makes History with Grammy Win for Best Country Album

Beyoncé has once again etched her name in music history by winning the Best Country Album award at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Her album Cowboy Carter earned the prestigious honor, making her the first Black woman to ever claim victory in this category.

The award was presented by Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé appeared visibly shocked as she took the stage to accept it.

“Wow, I truly didn’t see this coming,” she said during her speech. “I’m so grateful to God for allowing me to continue doing what I love after all these years.”

She went on to acknowledge the country artists who contributed to the album, including industry legends Linda Martell and Willie Nelson, as well as contemporary stars like Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and emerging talent Shaboozey.

“I want to thank all the incredible country artists who embraced this project,” Beyoncé added. “We put so much work into it. Genres can sometimes be used to confine artists, but I encourage everyone to pursue their passion fearlessly.”

She concluded by expressing gratitude to her family, fans, and everyone involved in the album, saying, “This wouldn’t have been possible without them. I’m still in shock—thank you for this honor.”

A Night of Firsts

Beyoncé’s historic win wasn’t the only milestone of the night. She and Miley Cyrus also won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song II Most Wanted from Cowboy Carter.

This made her the first Black woman in 50 years to win a Grammy in the country genre, following The Pointer Sisters’ victory in 1975.

Entering the night as the most-nominated artist with 11 nods, Beyoncé had several chances to add to her collection, with Cowboy Carter contending for Album of the Year and her hit TEXAS HOLD ‘EM nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Fierce Competition

The Best Country Album category featured tough contenders, including Chris Stapleton (Higher), Kacey Musgraves (Deeper Well), Post Malone (F-1 Trillion), and Lainey Wilson (Whirlwind). However, Cowboy Carter ultimately took the top spot.

Other Major Wins

The 2025 Grammys also saw big wins for other artists. Kendrick Lamar took home three awards for Not Like Us, winning Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. Meanwhile, Charli XCX secured three Grammys for her album Brat.

Beyoncé’s groundbreaking achievement further solidifies her legacy as one of the greatest artists of all time.
