“Babu Owino deserves life imprisonment!” Kenyans demand justice for DJ Evolve

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is currently in police custody after shooting DJ Evolve at B Club.

The DJ is however receiving treatment at the Nairobi hospital. From the stories making rounds online is that Evolve is currently at the ICU fighting for his life as his family awaits for him to wake up.

Anyway, Babu Owino has already issued an official statement – where he did not apologize for the act; but went on to claim that his life was in danger at the time the he opened fire.

STATEMENT BY HON. BABU OWINO ON INCIDENT
A few weeks ago, I made a public statement regarding threats that I had been receiving against my life. At the turn of the year, I reported an attempted assassination at the Parliament Police Station under OB number OB21/17/11/2019 at 17:28hrs. I have been living under the weight of intimidation and threats by my political opponents.

Yesterday was the culmination of these efforts by my enemies. While enjoying the company of my friends at a popular Nairobi restuarant, I was surrounded by a large group of aggressive individuals. In the melee, there was an exchange of gunfire.

I invite the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations without fear or favor and I remain confident that the truth will come out.

I urge my supporters to remain calm. I will continue to serve wananchi fearlessly. This will not deter me from supporting H. E Uhuru Kenyatta and H. E Raila Odinga in the journey to transform our country.

Kenyans on social media demand for justice

However Kenyans on social media are not having any of this. They have gone ahead to demand for justice to be served and now want Babu Owino to remain behind bars for attempting to kill the young DJ.

The DCI have however confirmed that Babu Owino is in their custody as they continue to carry their investigations.
