Auctioneers Target Real Housewives of Nairobi Star Susan Kaittany Over Sh40,500 Debt

Reality TV personality and businesswoman Susan Kaittany risks losing over Sh500,000 after auctioneers seized assets from her Posh Palace Hair Studio and Spa to recover a debt of Sh45,500.

The dispute stems from a judgment issued by a Milimani Small Claims Court on August 1, 2024. The court ordered Ms. Kaittany, the CEO of Posh Palace, to settle the amount owed to Stephen Murithi Mutua, proprietor of Blueberry Africa.

Mr. Mutua filed the case on February 2, 2024, accusing Ms. Kaittany of failing to pay for podcast production services provided for her *Dangerously Honest* podcast, recorded in June 2023 at the Dusit Princess Hotel. The services included recording, editing, sound design, and mixing.

According to court documents, Mr. Mutua invoiced Ms. Kaittany Sh40,500 on July 26, 2023. Despite repeated follow-ups, Ms. Kaittany allegedly ignored payment demands, even stating he could “go the legal way” if he wanted resolution. A demand letter sent in August 2023 also went unanswered.

With no defense or response filed by Ms. Kaittany, Magistrate Kiongo Kagenyo ruled in favor of Blueberry Africa. The court awarded Sh40,500 plus a 12.5% annual interest from July 1, 2023, and costs of Sh15,000, bringing the total debt to Sh61,984 by November 2024.

On November 6, 2024, Interfield Auctioneers, authorized by the court, served Ms. Kaittany with warrants of attachment and a seven-day proclamation notice at her Posh Palace premises.

Items attached for auction included salon equipment such as hair dryers (Sh20,000), steamers (Sh25,000), salon chairs (Sh40,000), foot spas (Sh50,000), massage tables (Sh10,000), and computers (Sh7,000). Additional charges of Sh38,600 for the auction process further increased the total liability.

Ms. Kaittany, a former Miss Earth Kenya (2005), gained fame on *The Real Housewives of Nairobi* in its debut season on Showmax, which aired in February 2023. However, her contract was not renewed for the show’s second season, which premiered in May 2024.

The series documented the lives of Kaittany and five other influential women, including Vera Sidika, as they balanced luxury lifestyles, careers, and relationships in Nairobi.
