Artist Spotlight: Amber J, songstress with a voice from heaven

If you love Kenyan music and you’ve not heard of a lady by the name Amber J then you don’t know what you are missing.

Amber J

This lass, whose real name is Winnie Amber Wambui, has been ruling the airwaves for some time now thanks to her impeccable voice.

Amber J discovered her talent when she was only 12 years old and she has been making melodious tunes since then.

Amber J was born in Kariobangi North in Eastlands and she says that Dolly Patron has had the biggest influence on her as a musician.

She started writing her own songs when she was in high school and to date she has released many jams that have been doing well across the region.

Her latest jam dubbed Type Yangu is all about this guy that he can’t get enough of because she feels connected to him in a special way.

I have listened to this song on repeat since it was released a few days ago and one of the things that really stand out about it is Amber J’s beautiful voice.

To add to that, the instrumentation is really on point and you will find yourself hitting the replay button because it is such dope.

Watch Type Yangu below and tell us what you think.
