Anita Nderu opens up on her five month battle with depression
Mental health is still a taboo topic for many, most people usually associate mental health disorder with insanity and as such would rather not talk about it.
Depression is a mental health disorder which most people experience once in a while. It causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest and if not managed can lead someone to even commit suicide.
Several celebrities have committed suicide because of depression. The death of Hollywood actor Robin Williams in 2014 was a wake up call for many across the world.
Anita’s battle with depression
Anita Nderu opened up about struggling with depression for five long months. The Capital FM presenter revealed that she battled the mood disorder in 2018.
She took to social media to narrate how she slid into depression;
“Let me do one of those 2018 posts? This year has been tumultuous for me, I battled depression for 5 months and fortunately pulled through. However it has had more ups than downs and I remain grateful for that.
Just like most people, I lost and made friends, fell in and out of love, dissapointed people, made people happy, called my Mum not often enough, didn’t achieve all my 2018 vision board plans but accepted what is mine will come to pass and moved on, moved from Whisky to Gin, made difficult decisions that kept me up late at night, made tones of mistakes, made fantastic decisions too, learnt the subtle art of not giving a fuck, read other amazing books, made promises that I forgot to keep, fortunately kept most promises, continued to forgive and forget, made my Dad happy, worked with AMAZING brands that I have always wanted to be a part of, H&M posted my picture on their website, did not move *rolls eyes* yet again but I must when I am back in the country and cried more than I have ever cried ever! @enews still hasn’t called me and other short stories?“
