An elderly woman’s body was discovered abandoned in City Park
The lifeless body of a murdered woman, identified as Rosemary Shikoku, aged 35, was discovered dumped at City Park in Parklands, Nairobi.
According to the police, her hands were bound with a rope behind her back, and she had facial injuries. The body was found by a man who had entered the park, and he promptly informed the police.
Near the body, a bag suspected to be hers was found, containing an identification waiting card and a police abstract issued at Kamukunji police station. Assorted clothing was also discovered in the bag.
Authorities believe that the murder may have occurred elsewhere, as there were no signs of blood oozing from the inflicted injuries, and the crime scene was undisturbed, indicating that the murder did not take place there, said Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei.
Detectives are now investigating the incident to determine where the woman was killed. The body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
The motive for the murder remains unknown, and no arrests have been made at this point.
In a separate incident, police are looking into the stabbing death of a garbage collector in an attack by a rival group in Nairobi’s Dandora area, which hosts the city’s dumping site. The victim, Alex Mwendwa, was stabbed and rushed to Mama Lucy hospital with multiple injuries on Monday, March 4, where he succumbed.
According to the police, Mwendwa was at his friend’s house within Baraka Mowlem when they were attacked by a group of garbage collectors involved in territory disputes. The victims raised an alarm, and one suspect was chased and caught by a mob, who beat him before the police intervened. The suspect is now hospitalized pending interrogation and further investigation into the murder. The police hope to apprehend more suspects as part of the ongoing murder probe, and a significant operation is planned at the dump site in connection with the case.
