All roads lead to 1824: Scar Mkadinali set for Solo Cameo Performance

The Kenyan entertainment scene wasn’t ready for the seemingly overnight rise of Kenyan rap trio, Wakadinali who took the stage by storm with their witty wordplay and intricately woven narratives of their experiences growing up in the seedier parts of Nairobi City.

Among the trio’s ranks to be counted, was an amazing lyricist known as Scar Mkadinali whose verses are often the catchiest and often most quoted of any of his contemporaries.

Scar Mkadinali is set for his first performance as a solo artist, and this could shake the landscape of the Kenyan entertainment scene.

Normally rocking the mic as one-third of the Wakadinali duo, he is looking to step out on his own to leave his mark in Kenyan hip-hop.

His latest foray into working as a solo rapper was when he collaborated with Bien on the latter’s track Lifestyle and he showed his versatility, blending seamlessly with Bien’s silky vocals and style on an RnB song. Scar has numerous solo projects working with the likes of Wangechi, Lil Maina, Steph Kapella and Khaligraph Jones.

In 2022, Rapper Khaligraph Jones officially crowned Scar Mkadinali as the best lyricist in Kenya, as far as the hip-hop scene is concerned.

Scar will be performing at 1824 on the 11th of January and we are all wondering whether this will mark an earth-shattering declaration…

Is he going solo? That’s the question on everyone’s lips but it is a question that will go begging until he hits the stage and rocks his fans.

What about the rest of Wakadinali? Are they aware? Will they be in the house to support their own? Or is there some unspoken tension surrounding Scar’s stab at a solo performance?
