Alchemist Club Closed Over Alleged Racism, Investigations Underway
Popular Nairobi bar joint The Alchemist has been closed indefinitely following alleged racism. Located in Parklands Nairobi, the club receives numerous guests from the diverse communities surrounding it. But recently, it has become infamous after a video exposed part of the staff separating a black man from wazungu while they were lining up to enter the club.
In the video, the Club’s bouncers are seen sending away black Kenyans at the entrance asking them to join the queue reserved for Kenyans of African descent according to the person recording the video who can be heard in the video’s sound.
Kenyans on Twitter, including activist Boniface Mwangi, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko lamented over the incident, with the flamboyant politician calling for the club to be closed.

Alchemist Under Investigation
”The management of The Alchemist is aware of the video circulating and has reached out to the individuals to get more information… To anyone that has felt aggrieved, we sincerely apologize and we look forward to sitting down together and addressing these issues head on, ” part of their statement read.
The Alchemist has now been closed amid pending investigations to determine the legitness of the matter and whether there have been measures to curb such discrimination.
