Akothee Rebukes Male Friends for Inappropriate Behavior: “Earn Respect by Showing Respect”
Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, widely known as Akothee, has spoken out about an uncomfortable situation involving some of her male friends.
In a social media post, the mother of five expressed her discomfort with the inappropriate conversations initiated by certain male acquaintances. She criticized these friends for crossing boundaries by bringing up s*xual topics, stating such discussions are disrespectful to her and her partner, Nelly Oaks. Akothee made it clear that being friendly with men doesn’t grant them the right to introduce such inappropriate topics.

“Let’s get this straight—are we simply friends, or have we suddenly become s*x mates or bed mates?” she questioned, emphasizing that such conversations are off-limits. She asserted there is no intention of dating or becoming romantically involved with these individuals, so such topics should never arise.
Addressing the impact of these conversations on her personal life, Akothee raised a significant point: “How am I supposed to explain to Nelly Oaks when you call and start talking like that?” She voiced concerns that these discussions could potentially harm her relationship. Akothee, known for her commitment to her partner, made it clear she would not tolerate inappropriate dialogues from friends.

In a firm statement, she warned that if these conversations persist, she would let her partner handle it directly. “If you call again, I will just hand the phone to @nellyoaks to deal with you, as I can’t handle this nonsense,” she stated, reinforcing her stance on loyalty and respect within her relationship.
Akothee urged her male friends to maintain self-respect if they expect respect in return. She emphasized that respect must be earned and clarified that she will only discuss intimate matters with the person she is involved with.
