Actress Winnie Bwire’s Father Reflects on Her Rest After Her Suffering

The body of actress Winnie Bwire Ndubi, renowned for her role in the TV drama Sultana, arrived in Mombasa on Sunday, September 8, following her death on September 5. Winnie, who had been receiving treatment in Turkey, lost her battle with cancer after a long and courageous fight.

Her family, friends, and fans gathered at Mombasa International Airport to receive her remains, expressing profound grief and highlighting the critical need for accessible cancer care to prevent similar suffering in others.

Winnie’s father, Edmond Ndubi, spoke to the press shortly after her arrival, paying a heartfelt tribute to his daughter.

“Winnie was well-known for her many talents—she was an actress, a furniture maker, a baker, and a musician. She was an inspiration to many young people,” he said.

He praised her bravery, noting that despite her intense suffering, Winnie remained strong and positive.

“As a family, we find solace in the fact that she is now at rest. Winnie endured significant pain but faced it with remarkable strength and composure. She never showed her struggles publicly, even though she went through a lot.”

Reflecting on her resilience and spirit, he added:
