Pretty lady who turned down marriage proposal writes her own obituary

Njeri Muthaka is best remembered for the marriage proposal gone wrong at Chicken Inn/Galitos in Nairobi CBD in June 2017. She caused a stir when she turned down boyfriend’s marriage proposal.

Njeri is once again making waves after she wrote her own obituary. She explains that she didn’t want anyone else to tell her story when she dies.

“It’s terrible that you will not even get to read your own Orbituary ??. It’s devastating that when someone dies, their family members quickly come together and start guessing your age, where you were born, your mother’s name, what killed you, your ? cats name and the worst news, a summary of your entire life is put down on two tiny pages,” wrote Njeri Muthaka.

Death is just a rite of passage

Death is a taboo subject for the living but for Njeri it’s just a rite of passage like birth or marriage. She reveals that she made a conscious decision a year ago to write her own obituary.

“So I made the decision earlier last year to write my own life story! Starting from when I was born. My pen will stop when biro pens stop being manufactured!

“No one will ever tell a story better than the author! Before you critics come here and protests about my life choices, you need to understand one thing, MY LIFE IS AWESOME!

“Maybe it’s because African cultures have a very vague understanding of the After life. So no one knows what happens after we die. No one has ever come back to tell us what they saw. So some idiot put Fear in us that Death is Baaaaad! But hey, Listen to me, am the awesome one here ! Death is just a rite of passage, just like Birth!” wrote Njeri.
