Diamond and 9 other artists slapped with a ban on their songs by Tanzania Communication Authority

Diamond is among nine other Bongo musicians whose songs have been blacklisted for airplay in Tanzania. The country’s communication authority on Wednesday February 28th published a list of songs banned in all media stations.

Diamond’s songs with Rick Ross and Morgan Heritage were blacklisted. ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Waka’ were some of the biggest songs Diamond released in 2017.

The two international collaborations received a warm reception from fans across the world. Tanzania Communication Authority however says the two songs don’t adhere to accepted moral standards in the country.

Other affected artists

Vanessa Mdee’s sweetheart Jux, Nay Wa Mitego, Roma Mkatoliki, Gigy Money, Snura Mushi are some of the biggest Bongo artists whose songs were banned.

A total of 15 songs were blacklisted by Tanzania Communication Authority. The ban follows president Magufuli’s outcry about moral decadence in Tanzania’s showbiz.
