Mulamwah’s Sold-Out Comedy Debut at Kenya National Theatre Sparks Celebration—and Controversy
Comedian Mulamwah made history on April 20 with his first-ever stand-up comedy special, Let Me Explain, held at the Kenya National Theatre. The show was completely sold out, marking a major milestone in his comedy career.
Taking to Instagram, Mulamwah shared photos and videos from the night, expressing gratitude and pride for the event’s success:
“GOD IS GREAT, we did it – FULL HOUSE, HISTORY MADE. To everyone who attended MY FIRST SPECIAL, asanteni sana for making KONKI NATION a success. To all the performing acts, thank you for bringing your A-game. And to our show partners @magnateventuresltd & @magnate_development – asanteni sana. EVERY FINISH LINE IS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW RACE… We move to the next. For those who couldn’t attend, links to the show will be available online soon. WE DID IT 💪💪💪💪”
The performance drew support from fellow entertainers such as YY Comedian, Comedian Butita, Nana Owiti, Vinnie Baite, Arrow Bwoy, and Iyaani—despite some online claims that celebrity attendance was low.
Still, public opinion was divided. While many celebrated the achievement, others questioned whether the show truly lived up to the hype.
Relationship Drama Overshadows Comedy Milestone
Mulamwah’s personal life was also under the spotlight in the days leading up to the show. Just before the performance, he confirmed via Facebook that he and long-time partner Ruth K had broken up.
“Yes, it’s true. We decided to part ways with RK. It was nice while it lasted. 💯”
Notably, Ruth K did not attend the show. Her recent launch of new social media pages fueled speculation about what caused the split—and whether Mulamwah had a hand in it.
Online rumors swirled that the breakup was orchestrated to generate buzz for the comedy show, but Mulamwah shut down those claims.
“Nimechoka kutrend, mtu mwingine ajitokeze atrend iko bana eii,” he posted, loosely translating to, “I’m tired of trending—someone else step up.”
He emphasized that if he truly used the breakup as clout to boost ticket sales, it would have been a failure, given the emotional toll it came with.
A Mysterious New Love?
Adding even more fuel to the gossip fire, Mulamwah shared a picture of a curvy, unidentified woman on April 24, captioned “To new life” with heart emojis. The photo—showing the woman’s bare back and small waist—prompted a flurry of online reactions, with fans speculating whether she might be his new partner.
Some followers went as far as zooming in to compare her features with Ruth K’s, further intensifying the intrigue.
Whether it’s through comedy or controversy, Mulamwah continues to trend—and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
