Fat Boy Gwaash Hospitalised After Attempting 7-Day Water-Only Fast
Kenyan artist and content creator Fat Boy Gwaash recently sparked online buzz after his bold decision to undergo a 7-day water-only fast as part of his fitness journey. However, the extreme challenge was cut short when he was hospitalised on the fifth day, just two days shy of completing the fast.
In a humorous video shared on Instagram, a friend of Gwaash is seen laughing while showing concern over the risky fasting attempt:
“Wasee mmechocha Gwaash fitness, fitness, akunywe maji ati fasting,” he said in Sheng, meaning “You guys hyped Gwaash too much with this fitness and water fasting.”
He added jokingly, “Kijana ana dedi, fasting imeisha. Kesho tunakula nini?” — “This guy is dying, fasting is over. What are we eating tomorrow?”
Following his hospital release, Gwaash joined in on the jokes, recording himself having breakfast and poking fun at his near-fatal ordeal.
“Watu wangu wa fasting, water fasting itabidi mmeniwia radhi. Nisameheni ju enyewe karibu nimwone Mola, karibu niende Sayuni,” he said lightheartedly.
Translation: “My fasting people, I need your forgiveness. I almost saw God, nearly went to heaven. I’m done with fasting.”
The incident triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with fans and fellow celebrities weighing in—many expressing concern and advising against such extreme dieting methods.
Rapper Khaligraph Jones offered practical advice:
“Incorporate cardio kwa gym buda—walking on the treadmill and rope skipping. You’ll see double results.”
Julie Syaya shared a health tip for anyone considering fasting:
“Use pink salt to avoid headaches, dizziness, and muscle pain during water fasting.”
Derrick Musilya emphasized balance:
“It’s not just about fasting. Watch your diet and exercise—even just 20 minutes daily. Try blending ginger, pineapple, cucumber, and include proteins.”
Gwaash has been open about his fitness journey, regularly updating fans with his progress. While his determination has inspired many, his latest experience has ignited a wider conversation on safe, sustainable weight loss practices and the importance of being well-informed before trying extreme routines.
Now back on his feet, Gwaash had a final message for fans:
“Fasting si ya kila mtu—na mimi nimewacha!”
“Fasting isn’t for everyone—and I’m done with it!”
