Mulamwah Says Vasectomy Is Not an Option for Him: “I Need More Children”
A recent Economic Survey report showing a rise in the number of Kenyan men opting for vasectomies has sparked debate among local celebrities. The latest to weigh in is comedian Mulamwah, who firmly stated that the procedure is not for him.
The father of three made it clear that male sterilization isn’t something he would ever consider, citing his desire for a large family.
“Vasectomy is a no for me. I don’t see myself going through with it. I need more children,” Mulamwah said. “I’m building a big house back in the village—who’s going to fill that mansion if I can’t have several kids?”
Mulamwah currently has children with his girlfriend Ruth K and his ex-girlfriend Carol Sonnie. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship with a partner who has since passed away.
While Mulamwah isn’t open to the idea, other male celebrities are exploring it. Recently, fellow comedian and YouTuber Oga Obinna revealed he’s considering a vasectomy as a family planning option after fathering five children with three different women.
Actor Melvin Alusa, who has eight children, also shared that vasectomy isn’t something he’s ever thought about seriously. However, his brother, Sauti Sol’s Bien Aime Barasa, has expressed a more open-minded stance.
Speaking on his Bald Box show alongside rugby star Dennis Ombachi and Dr. Reign, Bien admitted that the idea of a vasectomy is daunting—but not off the table.
“When vasectomy comes up, most men just ask if it’s reversible,” he said. “Personally, I can’t say I’ve completely embraced the idea. I’d probably recommend my wife to consider the procedure first. But I’m open to it and willing to explore it further.”
As public conversations around male contraceptives grow, so do the diverse opinions—from firm opposition to cautious consideration. One thing is clear: the topic is no longer taboo.
