Director Trevor: Why Men Lose Out When Shared YouTube Channels End After a Breakup

Director Trevor has shed light on why men often struggle when a shared YouTube channel with their partner dissolves after a breakup.

Speaking in an interview with Dr. King’ori, Trevor explained that audiences primarily engage with couples’ content because of the woman. When the relationship ends, viewers tend to follow the woman to her new channel, leaving the man at a disadvantage.

“The moment you go online as a couple, as a man, you should know things won’t be easy if you break up,” he said. “The woman will end up growing three times bigger than you. Most people watch couples’ content because of the woman. Why would anyone be interested in watching how a man wakes up?”

The Aftermath of Trevor and Mungai Eve’s Breakup

Trevor’s comments resonate with his own experience following his split from Mungai Eve. For years, the two operated the highly successful Mungai Eve YouTube channel together. However, after their breakup, Trevor made significant changes to the brand.

On February 19, 2024, he announced the rebranding of Mungai Eve to Kenya Online Media, stating that Eve’s services were no longer needed on the platform, which had amassed nearly 800,000 subscribers. He also reclaimed Insta Fame, another YouTube channel with 105,000 subscribers.

Meanwhile, Mungai Eve quickly found success with her own platform. In March 2024, she celebrated hitting 100,000 subscribers within just five days of launching her new channel. She later thanked her fans for their overwhelming support, setting her sights on 500,000 subscribers. Currently, her channel boasts over 180,000 followers.

Why Trevor Took Over the Channel

Addressing his decision to reclaim the Mungai Eve channel, Trevor revealed that despite initially planning to leave it behind, Eve’s alleged financial manipulation forced him to change his stance.

“I had previously said that if we ever broke up, I wouldn’t take the channel because I had no intention of doing so,” he explained. “But she made me beg for my share, and that really infuriated me.”

His remarks highlight the power dynamics in digital content creation and why women often thrive after parting ways with their male counterparts in shared ventures.
