Lydia Wanjiru: Cheating in Relationships is a Chance to Find a Better Partner—It’s Your Right

Lydia Wanjiru Sparks Debate, Says Cheating While Dating Is a Right and a Chance to Find Better Options

Lydia Wanjiru has caused a stir by asserting that cheating is acceptable if one is not married, framing it as an opportunity to explore better partners.

She also argued that men should not receive sympathy when cheated on, as they frequently engage in infidelity themselves.

According to Lydia, being unfaithful in a relationship—without marriage—simply expands one’s options in the search for an ideal partner.

“Welcome to 2025. Everyone is free to cheat. Men have children outside their relationships and still come back apologizing, yet they never change,” she stated.

She further added:

“Cheating while dating is a chance to find a better partner. You have every right to do it. If you’re not married, you’re still free to explore other options. If no dowry has been paid to your family, you’re not bound. Men cheat all the time.”

Her remarks were in response to Jos Wahome, who took to social media lamenting after allegedly being cheated on by his girlfriend with an older man. According to Jos, he had invested in his ex-girlfriend since 2023.

Influencer Winnie Njenga also shared her views, calling out women who sympathized with Jos.

“Those girls in Wahome’s DMs, telling him ‘sorry’ for being cheated on—are you even thinking? Just because he said the girl is bad, you automatically believe him without knowing the full story? How many people have genuinely told you sorry for being cheated on? It’s embarrassing what you’re doing.”

Mixed Reactions on Social Media

Lydia’s comments sparked a heated debate, with some agreeing while others strongly disagreed:

  • @wanjeruh_joan: “A man leaving a woman pregnant and never looking back is normal, but when a woman leaves for better options, it’s suddenly an issue? 👀 Okay!”
  • @_gra.cy: “People should just enjoy life! Dating is for millennials. Why do you love lying to yourselves? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Talking about love. 😭😭😭”
  • @iam_kat_daily: “I don’t fully agree. Why commit to a relationship if you’re going to cheat? Just stay single until you find the right person.”
  • @rex_rozz: “Why cheat when you can be single and explore freely?”
  • @obwogi.maureen: “A ‘right’ to cheat??? At this point, people need to stand for something! Infidelity is never okay. If you’re unhappy, leave! There’s power in that.”
  • @africian_can.nelle: “You’ve lost everyone around you except your weight. 😂😂 You’re 34 and unmarried, yet giving relationship advice? Maybe find a partner first. 😂😂”
