Idris Sultan Responds to Wema Sepetu’s Denial of Squandering His Sh38 Million Winnings

Idris Sultan has responded to his ex-girlfriend, Bongo movie actress Wema Sepetu, after she denied claims that she squandered part of his Sh38 million Big Brother Africa prize money.

Wema has consistently refuted allegations that she was with Idris for his winnings and that their breakup was linked to financial issues. Idris himself has admitted to spending all the money on a lavish lifestyle and women, leading many Tanzanian fans to speculate about Wema’s involvement.

Having won the prize in December 2014, Idris dated Wema between late 2015 and part of 2016. In a previous interview, Wema dismissed the accusations, insisting she never took a single shilling from him. “If I received anything, it was a gift of Tom Ford perfume, nothing more. He knows how he spent his money, and I wasn’t part of it,” she stated, adding that another of Idris’s exes, Samantha, was the one who truly benefited from his fortune.

Revisiting the topic recently, Idris expressed frustration over repeated questions about his lost millions. “I’m tired of talking about this. Am I the first person to lose money? Some people have taken their lives over losing Tsh1,000, but I lost Tsh500 million and survived. I’m doing fine. Losing money is normal; what matters is how you recover. People should be asking about my current financial state, not dwelling on the past,” he said.

The comedian and professional photographer also took a subtle dig at Wema, suggesting she did, in fact, benefit from his winnings. “It’s not entirely true for her to say she didn’t enjoy any of the money. Realistically speaking, she must have spent at least Tsh100 of it,” he remarked.

Idris won Big Brother Africa: Hot Shots, walking away with a $300,000 (KSh38 million) prize after defeating 25 other housemates. His flirtatious nature on the show even earned him the nickname “Mr. Lover Man” from fans.
