Ken Mijungu’s Unexpected Departure: What Led to His Exit from TV47?

Ken Mijungu has reassured his fans that he is doing well following his recent exit from TV47. In a video update, he emphasized that he is alive and in good spirits.

“Hey, good people! I am back with another video. I am alive and OK, do not worry about me… this is proof of life that after Saturday and Sunday, I am alive and healthy,” he said.

Speaking to Tuko, Mijungu confirmed that he had reached out to the station’s management regarding his role.

“It’s true I had written to the management to request more time to reflect on my engagement with the station. I requested more time before going on air because I didn’t want to rush before understanding my brief and the company’s expectations,” he explained.

His dismissal from TV47 has sparked online discussions, especially given his recent transition from KTN, where he had worked for years.

The station reportedly terminated his contract after he requested time off to reassess his position. In a letter dated February 22, Cape Media’s CEO acknowledged his request and confirmed the early termination of his contract, just days after he had joined.

“We acknowledge receipt of your email dated February 21, 2025, in which you requested time off to reflect on your engagement with the company.

Having considered the matter, management has taken the decision to revoke the Service Agreement dated 31st January 2025. This decision takes effect from the 22nd of February 2025. This development notwithstanding, we shall be pleased to engage with you on future possibilities. Management wishes you the best in your future endeavors,” the letter read in part.

Mijungu joined TV47 in January after announcing his departure from Standard Group’s KTN. His hiring was officially announced by TV47 on X on February 7, 2025, the same day the station revealed its shift from Channel 268 to Channel 274 on DStv.

Mijungu had also taken to social media to share the news of his new role before his sudden exit.
