Daddy Owen Criticizes the Church
This is not the first time the Vanity hitmaker has spoken out on national issues. In July 2024, amid widespread reports of extrajudicial killings and anti-government protests, Daddy Owen criticized the church for its silence on the escalating crisis.
In a post dated July 19, 2024, he called on religious leaders to address corruption, poor governance, and the killing of innocent youth.
“To the church in Kenya, I humbly urge you: it’s time to speak out! Be a voice of reason, condemn the killings of young people, speak up against corruption and bad governance,” he wrote.

The artist and activist urged the church to play a leading role in holding leaders accountable. He also highlighted how the church only seems to unite its voice on issues directly affecting it, such as taxation and licensing, while remaining silent on broader societal injustices.
“The church should lead in holding the responsible accountable. The church only speaks with unity when it faces the prospect of taxes and licensing of churches. Let’s not remain silent; silence is a form of taking sides,” he emphasized.
Daddy Owen, a vocal advocate for social justice, has consistently used his platform to highlight the need for accountability and the role of the church in addressing the nation’s challenges.
