Man Stabs Girlfriend to Death Over a Teddy Bear

An 18-year-old man is accused of murdering a 15-year-old girl in Croydon over a dispute involving a teddy bear.
Hassan Sentamu allegedly stabbed Elianne Andam multiple times with a kitchen knife during a prearranged meeting in September 2023. The incident, sparked by anger over perceived disrespect, occurred near the Whitgift Centre.
The prosecution argues that Sentamu, who was armed with the knife beforehand, intentionally targeted Elianne. He has admitted to manslaughter but denies murder, citing loss of control due to autism.
The court heard that Sentamu’s ex-girlfriend and her friends, including Elianne, had arranged to exchange belongings. When Sentamu arrived empty-handed, Elianne intervened, leading to the fatal attack.
The trial continues at the Old Bailey.
