Crazy Kennar Shares Humorous Reasons Behind Closing His Restaurant

Popular digital content creator and comedian Crazy Kennar, born Kennedy Odhiambo, recently opened up about why his restaurant venture shut down just months after its launch. With his trademark humor, Kennar candidly admitted to poor planning and cost-cutting measures that ultimately backfired.

“Besides comedy, I’m also a businessman,” the 26-year-old began during an interview with Oga Obinna.

Reflecting on the early days of his restaurant, Kennar shared how he hired friends instead of professionals to save costs—a decision that led to some laughable yet costly missteps.

“I thought starting a business was simple. I told myself, ‘We’ll open today, market tomorrow, and profits will start rolling in.’ So, I called up friends to help. One friend became the delivery guy, but he didn’t even know how to ride a motorbike. He ended up wobbling around and falling into a ditch, bending the bike!” Kennar said, bursting into laughter.

He recounted another incident with a friend he hired as a waiter. “The guy loved storytelling too much. Half the time, he didn’t even notice customers coming in. Sometimes, he’d even get so comfortable that he’d turn into the customer himself and feast on the buffet,” Kennar joked.

These experiences taught him some hard truths about running a business. “I realized I wasn’t prepared for the challenges of managing such a venture. I made plenty of mistakes but gained a new level of respect for entrepreneurs, no matter the size of their businesses,” he admitted.

Kennar also confessed to another rookie mistake—eating his own stock and occasionally paying for it, thinking it would somehow help the business grow.

“Business is not as straightforward as it seems,” he reflected. “Respect anyone, even if they’re selling peanuts. There’s a lot more to it than we often understand.”
