Mwakideu Addresses Rumors About Working for Adani After Being Linked to WhatsApp Group

A whistleblower has alleged that Alex Mwakideu, along with other influencers, was compensated by a Kenyan marketing firm to enhance Adani’s public image. This claim includes information about a ‘sanitisation’ WhatsApp group, where Mwakideu is said to be a member.

In response, the popular Kenyan radio presenter has strongly refuted these allegations, stating he has not been paid to promote a positive narrative about Adani on either radio or social media.

The accusations were made by an X user named Nelson Amenya, who is reportedly the whistleblower behind the controversial deal between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Adani. Amenya urged the public to scrutinize Mwakideu’s social media activities and listen to his show on Radio 47 for evidence of him defending Adani.

Amenya contends that Mwakideu and other influencers were hired by a marketing agency to improve the perception of Adani, claiming that Mwakideu’s on-air comments appeared to support the Indian conglomerate.

“Alex Mwakideu has been paid by a marketing company to portray Adani positively on the radio. His comments make it seem like he is defending Adani, almost as if he has been compensated,” Amenya stated.

He also shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp group, alleging that Mwakideu’s membership was part of a coordinated effort to enhance Adani’s image in Kenya.

In his rebuttal, Mwakideu challenged Amenya and others making such claims to provide solid proof of any involvement in a paid campaign for Adani. He even offered a reward of 1 million Kenyan shillings to anyone who could present evidence of him defending Adani online or on air.

“I don’t know who posted this, but I hear he’s called Nelson Amenya. Check all my social media pages, listen to Radio 47. If you find any evidence of Alex Mwakideu defending Adani in any way, I’ll give you 1 million shillings cash. There’s no time limit on this offer, so take your time. All the best!” he stated.

Mwakideu also questioned the significance of the WhatsApp group, asserting that being part of a chat does not imply wrongdoing.

“Which WhatsApp group is this? Kenyans are waiting for your evidence. I’m waiting too. Show evidence of where I was paid or where I defended Adani. Just being in a WhatsApp group is not proof,” he remarked.
