14-Year-Old Dandora Girl Reaches Out to Obinna for Help with Her Family’s Struggles

Chantelle Mwikali, a 14-year-old girl from Dandora, has reached out to media personality Oga Obinna and internet sensation Dem Wa Facebook, appealing for help for her struggling family.

Chantelle, who recently wrote a poem dedicated to both Obinna and Dem Wa Facebook, hopes that her talent and her family’s situation will touch their hearts and motivate them to offer assistance.

In an interview with Trudy Kitui, Chantelle revealed the hardships she and her family have faced since their father abandoned them in 2021, when she was in Grade 4. Since then, life has been a constant struggle, with times when they barely have enough food to survive.

“Dad left when I was in Grade 4 in 2021. We’ve been struggling, and sometimes we don’t even have food,” she shared.

Chantelle’s mother, who suffers from asthma, takes on odd jobs like washing clothes for neighbors, but her health condition often limits her ability to work regularly.

“Mum sometimes takes jobs washing clothes, but when she gets back, she’s very sick because she’s asthmatic,” Chantelle added, expressing concern for her mother’s deteriorating health after doing strenuous tasks.

Chantelle believes that Oga Obinna could provide the assistance her family desperately needs, given his track record of helping those in need. She mentioned past instances where Obinna has offered support, including to Dem Wa Facebook and a woman named Mama County, which gives her hope that her family could receive help as well.

“I’ve seen Obinna help so many people. I believe he can also help me and my family. I just want to meet him and ask if he could help my mum find a job, maybe cleaning the studio, so we can at least have food on the table,” she said.

She also expressed her desire for school sponsorship to continue her education, emphasizing the importance of education for her and her siblings.

“Even if he could just help with school sponsorship, it would mean so much. As long as my siblings and I can go to school and mum is okay, and we have food, that’s all I need,” Chantelle said tearfully.

In addition to her financial struggles, Chantelle is a talented poet with aspirations of becoming a journalist. She sees a connection between poetry and journalism, as both involve storytelling and expressing emotions. With the right support, Chantelle hopes to develop her talents and pursue her dream of becoming a journalist.
