Trisha Khalid speaks out on why women dislike her success.

TV actress and content creator Trisha Khalid has expressed her confusion over the hate and negativity she receives from other women due to her success.

At 29, Trisha recently moved to Nairobi from Mombasa to seek better opportunities. Despite working hard to establish her name, she says many people overlook her efforts, instead attributing her achievements to having a wealthy sponsor.

“It’s ironic and disappointing that most of the negative comments come from women. They don’t see the hard work I put in as an actress and businesswoman,” she lamented.

Trisha shared that people are unaware of the struggles she faced to reach her current position.

“Before moving to Nairobi, I used to shop at Kongowea market in Mombasa, which is similar to Gikomba. I would buy second-hand clothes, sell them online, and even go live to sell items as low as Sh800. I also traveled to Uganda for bags and ordered shoes from China to sell. But no one acknowledges that hustle,” she explained.

The actress expressed her heartbreak over the negativity from women, who she feels should be more supportive.

“I don’t understand why people assume that any successful woman must be funded by a rich man. My life isn’t even luxurious, but people still think I have a sponsor,” Trisha noted.

While she acknowledges having a supportive boyfriend, she insists that her own efforts should not be overlooked.

“Having a supportive partner doesn’t mean he takes care of everything. People should recognize my hard work. I’m always on set by 6:30 a.m. If I were dependent on a man, why would I bother getting up so early? Yes, I have a supportive partner, but I also put in the work,” she emphasized.

Trisha concluded by saying she is no longer affected by the “mubaba” comments.

“If that’s what people think, that’s fine. If anything, there are plenty of ‘wababas’ out there, and those who keep hating should go find one and see how it goes.”
