Waweru, a seasoned primary school educator, dedicated his life to revolutionizing the educational materials landscape in Kenya. His expertise in building a strong customer network across various regions of the country played a crucial role in the growth and success of JESMA.
Peter Waweru, Jesse’s son, has taken over the reins of the family business. Peter’s early involvement with JESMA, beginning as a technician while still in high school, has prepared him for this leadership role.
Reflecting on his father’s mentorship, Peter shared a poignant memory of their business trip to Dubai, which significantly shaped his entrepreneurial journey. This formative experience laid the groundwork for a seamless transition and the continuation of Jesse’s visionary work.
Born in Nakuru in 1952, Waweru earned his primary teaching certificate in 1974. He was fondly referred to as ‘Mr Young’ by his colleagues and students, a testament to his youthful spirit and iconic hairstyle.
In 1988, Waweru made the bold decision to leave teaching and embark on an entrepreneurial journey. He founded Musomesha, a company focused on educational schemes of work. Over time, Musomesha evolved into JESMA Publishers & Education Boosters Limited, expanding its offerings to include textbooks, examination papers, and a wide range of revision materials.
