Why Kenyans Want to Occupy JKIA Today

There are a lot of Kenyans on Twitter/X who believe the job of passing a message to the government is not done yet. They believe that the maandamano protestors made a mistake in letting go of the ground they gained during past demonstrations. Twitter bigwig Francis Gaitho expressed such sentiments in a Twitter space by saying:

If you are leaving your house tomorrow to participate in this noble activity, then you must be prepared to go the whole 9 yards. You must be prepared to finish the job, kufinish kumalo. You must be prepared to do what our ancestors set out to do, but they didn’t have the tools to communicate. We now are blessed to have the technology so that we can be leaderless. We don’t have to depend on one person. So I don’t get how one person can tell an entire mob to leave a staging area for a revolution and go home. So if it is you who is preparing to go tomorrow, if we have said Occupy JKIA, it is not your duty to go home and abandon the cause because that’s just the beginning.

He then attacked the leaders who have come out to try and guide Kenyans who are protesting:

The revolution is just but one component. We have all these aging warlords like Raila Odinga, Mbadi. These guys are opportunists waiting to cash in on where they did not reap. They have earned from the sweat of Kenyans while engaging in these phantom agreements called handshakes.

They are also reacting to a rumor that JKIA was sold for zero KSh to private interests. Twitter bigwig Amerix queried lawyer Nelson Amenya on the space about the progress of the sale and this is what wakili said:

The petition is to stop this process because it’s illegal. They haven’t followed the PPP act. They have contravened so many laws in the constitution and this thing should not be going on.

So there you have it. A combination of things is what has led to this Occupy JKIA. We will be on standby to update you all on the progress
