Captain Otoyo shares the reasons behind his departure from the comedy industry
Actor and comedian Kazungu Matano, widely known as Captain Otoyo, revealed that his absence from the entertainment scene is due to taking time off to enjoy the wealth he amassed from his career.

Following the conclusion of Churchill Show in 2020 and his exit from radio, Matano has been living a quiet life out of the spotlight.
Captain Otoyo, who gained fame through the popular TV show Papa Shirandula before transitioning to stand-up comedy on Churchill Show and pursuing a career in radio, explained that he needed time to reflect on his successes, relish his earnings, and explore other ventures he chose not to disclose.
“I realized I had made a significant amount of money and needed to enjoy it; otherwise, I might leave it behind for others to fight over without understanding the effort I put in,” Captain Otoyo chuckled.

Though he still feels the creative urge, Otoyo believes it’s time to open a new chapter in his life.
“I would love to venture into other things, especially now that I have a fair amount of life experience. I think it would be a nice challenge for myself,” he added.
