The 7-track R&B EP, produced during a residency in Switzerland, follows her single “Pen and Paper”. Described by Karun as soulful and meditative, the EP includes tracks like “A’ Nu” (French for bare), “Reason”, “How Far”, and “Wondering Why”, all heavily influenced by her emotional experiences.

In “How Far”, Karun shares a poignant confession from a healed heart, reflecting on past abuse with clarity and acceptance.

Over a melancholy piano, Karun’s reflective lyrics delve into understanding her past experiences and questioning her limits for tolerating mistreatment before reaching a breaking point.

“My music at its core is meditative. I use music as a spiritual practice. It helps me, and I hope when the product is made, it helps whoever is listening to it,” Karun explained to COLORS, describing her creative process.

During her COLORS SHOW performance, Karun performed “Only You”, a heartfelt ode to a past lover—a sentiment many can relate to. “I hope to keep discovering who I am and just being fiercely myself in whatever medium that is. Music is what I’m doing right now, and I hope it becomes even more powerful,” Karun shared on COLORS.

Identifying herself as an alte-artist due to her alternative sound, Karun expressed satisfaction with the growth of Kenyan music compared to ten years ago.

“We have a lot more alternative artists experimenting with different sounds, and it’s great to see,” she noted.
