Daugter Of Late President Moi Passes On At Age 60
June Chebet, daughter of former Kenyan President Daniel Moi, has passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the age of 60. The Moi family confirmed the news but hasn’t disclosed the specific cause of death.
The family released a statement requesting privacy during this difficult time.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved, June Chebet Moi this morning,” the statement reads. “We ask for your prayers and understanding as we mourn the loss of our sister.”
June Chebet, the former president’s youngest daughter, was adopted at a young age. Despite her father’s prominent role (Kenya’s second president from 1978 to 2002), June and her siblings preferred to stay out of the spotlight.
Following her education at Nairobi Primary School and Kenya High School, June pursued higher education in Canada. Briefly involved in her father’s political activities, she later transitioned to a career in land and property development.
President Moi, married to the late Lena Moi in 1950, had seven other children: five sons (Jonathan, Gideon, Raymond, Philip, and John Mark) and two daughters (Jennifer Chemutai Kositany and Doris Elizabeth Chepkorir).
