Anita Nderu Shares Challenges She Has Been Facing As A First Time Mum
Digital content creator Anita Nderu Raftery is facing a common yet relatable hurdle in parenthood: encouraging her almost 2-year-old daughter, Kaya, to use her own toothbrush.
While Kaya is receptive to brushing her teeth, she has a strong preference for using her mother’s toothbrush. Anita humorously shared this challenge on her Instagram stories, seeking advice from fellow parents on how to transition Kaya to her own kid-friendly brush.
“Guys so Kaya is at that age where we have started teaching her how to brush her teeth. The only problem is she will only use my toothbrush, like she completely refuses to use her and only wants mommy’s.
I’ve tried to make her stop but that is the only way that she will brush her teeth like she just wants to use my toothbrush and I don’t know what to do.
“Look at this brush, God knows what that is and where her little hands have been. But I still let her use it because that’s all she’ll do. So I let her use it then just clean it using toothpaste,” shared Anita Nderu.
The post included a lighthearted image of Anita’s toothbrush, playfully highlighting the “battle scars” of Kaya’s enthusiastic brushing. Anita emphasized her commitment to maintaining hygiene, explaining that she thoroughly cleans the toothbrush after Kaya uses it.
This instance highlights the unique challenges and compromises that parents face while instilling good habits in their children. Anita’s open and relatable approach resonates with many parents navigating similar situations, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.
