Naira Marley arrested over Mohbad’s death

The singer-songwriter Naira Marley has been detained by Nigerian authorities in connection with the passing of Afrobeats icon MohBad.

Marley was being held, according to Lagos police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, “for questioning and other investigation activities.”

Marley revealed on X that he was helping investigators look into MohBad’s death and that he was “meeting with the police in the hopes that the truth will be revealed and that justice will be served.”

On September 12, MohBad suddenly passed away in a hospital in Lagos. His family hastily buried him.

Police exhumed the 27-year-old star’s body for an autopsy after protests and inquiries from his admirers in response to his death.

Fans were especially upset with Marley since he had signed MohBad to his Marlian Records record label.

After a disagreement with Marley last year, MohBad left the label.
Several videos of MohBad talking about his relationship with Marlian Records reappeared after his passing.
