The much-anticipated Shoke Shoke festival has been canceled due to financial constraints.
The festival was scheduled to take place on September 9, 2023, at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi. However, the organizers announced on Wednesday that they were unable to proceed with the event due to “unmet financial obligations.”
In a statement, the organizers said that they had been “impeded by logistical and operational challenges” and that the current state of the economy had “presented significant hurdles” to their plans.
They also said that they had already spent a significant portion of the ticket sales on compensating the artists who were scheduled to perform.
The organizers apologized for the inconvenience and said that they were working to secure the necessary funds to process refunds for the tickets that had already been sold. They said that they hoped to be able to refund everyone within the next 45 to 60 days.
The Shoke Shoke festival was a major event that was expected to attract thousands of people from all over Kenya. The cancellation is a major disappointment for fans who had been looking forward to the event.
The organizers said that they were “taking time to regroup, reflect, and strategize for the future” and that they hoped to come back “bigger and better.”
